Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Douling’ao, about 1.5 km southeast of Yantang Town, Xinshao, Hunan. It was named by Tan Zhengxiu et al. in 1987.

Synonym: Douling'ao Fm


Lithology and Thickness

Limestone. Dominated by gray-black thick- and medium-bedded bioclastic limestone and clayey limestone, intercalated with marl and shale, ~100 m thick. From central to southern Hunan, clayey material is decreasing while calcareous material is increasing, and completely disappeared at the Hunan-Guangdong and Hunan-Guangxi borders, in a transition to the Shidengzi Fm.
